Environmental Sustainability Policy

1.    Purpose

This Environmental Sustainability Policy (Policy) formalises PMY Group Pty Ltd’s and its subsidiaries (PMY) commitment to supporting the principles of environmental sustainability. PMY recognises that a sustainable environment is central to our lives, the healthy functioning of our communities and our work.

The aim of this Policy is to:

a)    Implement sustainable actions within PMY

b)    Monitor the environmental actions and improvements internally

c)     Communicate sustainability initiatives internally and externally

2.   Application

This Policy applies to all employees and contractors of PMY.

3.  Policy Statement

PMY is an environmentally responsible company committed to conducting its business in a manner which ensures high standards of sustainability and environmental management performance.  As part of its commitment to achieving the principles of responsible environmental management, sustainability, and protection of the natural environment in the workplace, PMY recognises that it has:

a)    a moral and legal responsibility to ensure that its activities, products, and services are designed to protect and enhance the environment in the communities in which it operates; and

b)    an obligation to ensure that its operations do not place the natural environment or the local community at risk of harm.

PMY will achieve its objectives through applying its core values to promote and maintain a culture of sustainability and continuously review and improve its environmental performance across the business.  PMY is also working on obtaining its ISO 14001:2015 Environment Management Systems standard to ensure it optimises its environmental performance and minimises environmental impact.

4.  Aims and Objectives

PMY will achieve its environmental goals by actively focusing on:

a)    integrating this Policy into its daily business activities;

b)    assessing the potential impacts of our operations and activities on the local environment to limit disturbance;

c)     reducing waste through innovative work practices and recycling practices;

d)    operating in a safe and environmentally responsible manner;

e)     empowering employees and contractors to achieve environmentally responsible operations and to improve environmental performance;

f)      continuing its transition to a low carbon energy supply by exploring sustainable energy alternatives;

g)    seeking to develop and improve operations and technologies to prevent air, water and other pollution derived from business activity; 

h)     continuing to be a responsible member of the communities in which PMY operates by correcting incidents and promptly reporting them to authorities and informing affected parties as appropriate;

i)       supporting the use of local labour wherever feasible;

j)       continuing to only use environmentally friendly products and materials;

k)     actively promoting environmental awareness among staff, clients and vendors in order to comply with PMY’s policies, procedures and expectations; and

l)       maintaining and continuously improving environmental and sustainability standards, systems and controls across all activities and operational areas.

5.  Responsibilities

PMY will ensure effective implementation of this Policy through:

a)    ensuring that environmental goals and standards are understood and adopted at all levels across PMY; 

b)    instructing and educating employees and contractors where appropriate of their environmental and sustainability responsibilities, including by way of online training and case studies;

c)     reporting environmental incidents, determining the cause and where appropriate implementing changes to prevent a recurrence;

d)    measuring our performance through regular monitoring, environmental audits and reporting; and

e)     ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and where appropriate industry codes.

6.  Review

This Policy will be kept up to date, particularly as the business changes in nature and size. To ensure this, the policy and the way in which it has been implemented will be reviewed annually.
