Sydney Vivid Festival
TechMedia has been engaged by Destination NSW to provide an advanced Content Management Systems (CMS), Media Players, and 4G Modems for over 30 Mobile LED Displays and the Tumbalong Park LED stage screens for the hugely successful and popular Sydney VIVID festival, a major annual event that combines light, music, and ideas.
The mobile LED displays, also known as "VMS" (Variable Message Sign) boards, serve multiple purposes throughout the festival. They are utilised to provide wayfinding and directional signage, helping visitors navigate the event's numerous attractions and installations. Additionally, these displays feature "What’s On!" updates to inform attendees of current and upcoming activities, performances, and shows. In times of need, they can also be used for emergency messaging to ensure public safety. Moreover, the VMS boards where utilised in the streaming of the opening ceremony and the festival's spectacular drone shows, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
This marks our second year of collaboration with the VIVID Team. Our team has been on the ground, providing onsite commissioning support to ensure the seamless operation of the displays. Furthermore, we offer remote support from our Network Operations Centre, enabling us to address any issues promptly and maintain uninterrupted service.
The TechMedia Solutions Development Team has played a crucial role in this project. They have developed bespoke templates and "Triggrs"—customized triggers and automation tools—to assist the Onsite CMS Operator. These innovations simplify the management of the numerous displays spread across the city, ensuring that content is updated and displayed accurately and efficiently throughout the 23 show days of the festival this year.
